City Breaks

Zagreb

Zagreb

Zagreb, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, captures the soul of Croatia more than any other city in this newly formed country. This heritage comes from the refined 'Mitteleuropa' urban culture, enriched by Mediterrean and Balkan traditions. Its grand neo-classical buildings, wide boulevards and squares are reminiscent of Vienna.

Zagreb

The city population is just below one million with efficient public transport, clean streets and squares, impeccably kept parks, twenty theatres and over forty museums and galleries.

The centre of Zagreb comprises four distinct districts: Trk bana Jelacica-the main square, Kaptol- the location of the cathedral, Gradec- a peaceful area with a number of imposing mansions and picturesque squares and Donji grad- where there are many prestigious public buildings.

Waiting to be discovered is enchanting Hrvatsko Zagorje, the north- western region of Croatia dotted by small wooded hills with churches, romantic castles, crystal clear streams and lush vineyards. After the Loire Valley, this region has the highest concentration of castles in Europe. Sparsely populated and beautifully preserved the Croatian inland offers peace, unmatched scenery, tasty, local specialities and great wines of the region.
