Medjugorje
Medjugorje
Medugorje is a village in the Herzegovina municipality of Citluk, today part of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has become a place of pilgrimage because of the sightings of the Virgin Mary by six young people.

On St John the Babtist's day, 24th June 1981 six local teenagers- Ivanka Ivankovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic, Ivan Dragicevic, Jakov Colo and Marija Pavlovic - experienced a vision on a remote hill above a village of Bijakovici near Medjugirje.
Centre for Peace Organisation – for pilgrimages to Medjugorje
"A call to Medjugorje is something which cannot be ignored “that
is what pilgrims who have been there will always tell you.
We took our first small group to Medjugorje for the 6 anniversary in 1987 and
returned, wanting to tell the whole world what was happening there.
The “Centre” was “born” shortly alter that life changing
experience and operated from a small room to our parish centre. The shop followed
later in 1991 and is a real haven in a deeply troubled area. We also spread devotion
in The Divine Mercy.
Since then there has never been a time when we stopped going ,even during the
war, although during those dreadful troubled times pilgrims were few and far
between. We lead the English contingent of the Peace March to 1992, when, with
our rosaries in our hands we walked through war torn Mostar in prayer.
We continue today to stay with the same families who hove welcomed us and our
pilgrims through all these years. Indeed they have become more like family
than friends and welcome our pilgrims in the same spirit. Our tour guide was
a member
of Our Lady’s prayer group. Many of you will remember this group of young
people who were led personally by Our Lady to a deeply spiritual formation through
locutions received by Jelena and Marianna
We continue to do things in much the same way now as we did then.
